Our role model of the month this month is Janet Legrand. Janet Legrand is a partner and Senior Elected Board Member at global law firm DLA Piper where she was formerly the firm’s Senior Partner and Chairman. She leads the firm’s award winning Women’s Network, the Leadership Alliance for Women and participates in events, enabling junior or aspiring solicitors to have contact with her and other senior lawyers, through informal events, both within the firm and at The Law Society.
Janet is a Trustee and Board member of PRIME, the body that delivers the UK legal profession’s commitment to ensure fair and equal access to quality work experience and leads DLA Piper’s associated global Break into Law programme.
Janet contributes to a wide number of pro bono initiatives. She is the Board sponsor for the firm’s award winning pro bono practice and is an Advisory Board member of New Perimeter, the US non-profit through which the firm delivers high impact global pro bono projects. Her client successes include representing the Republic of Zambia in a series of high profile and successful proceedings including the Country’s flagship anti-corruption case against its former President, the outcome of which had a transformational effect on governance in Zambia.
