Since qualifying in 1983, Virginia spent most of her working life as an in-house commercial solicitor. Her 17 years with British Telecommunications plc included a wide variety of corporate and commercial work for the UK and international divisions, three years as Dedicated Counsel for BT Broadcast Services, and two years as BT’s International Compliance Manager. After that, Virginia spent 7 years with London Underground Limited, working on the PPP Contracts with Metronet and Tube Lines, and the PFI Contracts with the power, telecoms and ticket gate suppliers to the London underground network.
Virginia retired in 2010. She is Chairman of the Friends of Moorfields Eye Hospital (a registered Charity and CIO), a Liveryman of the City of London Solicitors’ Company, and a member of its Charity Committee. Her interests include a passion for opera and ballet.
Virginia was invited onto the AWS London Committee in 2012, and was Secretary from 2013 to 2016. She enjoys using her experience to help the Association in its work to support the success and wellbeing of women lawyers.
