Christl Hughes MBE was admitted as a solicitor in 1980  and until 2011 was in High St practice in Leicester city centre specialising in dispute resolution. During that time as she sat dictating late at night at the office she was regularly haunted by the ghost of Richard III whose bones unbeknown to her lay just a few yards away.

In 2010/11 she served as Chair of the National Association of Women Solicitors and joined the AWS London Committee in 2014.

She is currently President of Leicestershire Law Society 2020/21,  East Midlands Area Representative on The Law Society Council Membership Committee  and Chair of the Awards Committee of The Solicitors’ Charity.

Christl  was awarded the MBE in 2020 for her services to Equality & Charity. Her hobbies include walking and reading novels.
