Elly joined the committee in 2017 as a GDL student at the University of Law, London. In her LPC year she set up a Women’s Network (@ULWomensNetwork) which developed into a society focused on female role models and influencers in the legal world, who have made an impact in the areas of entrepreneurship, technology and diversity.
After University, Elly completed a 6 month graduate placement in Local Government, gaining experience in Litigation and Conveyancing. As well as being involved on some exciting cases, she saw potential to improve workflows, processes and technology used in many Councils across the UK, where budgeting and resourcing is notoriously stretched. Whilst keeping a keen interest in technology in the legal work, alongside working for the Council Elly worked for Legal Geek on their website profile pages for their proprietary LegalTech startup map.
Elly is currently a ‘Legal Engineer’ at Simmons Wavelength, a part of the Simmons + Simmons LLP. She works closely with the Financial Services team to develop and build legal technology solutions for clients which streamline workflows, and build extra efficiency in to the high quality legal work deliver. Alongside this she has experience with negotiating commercial and technology contracts, project management and BD.
