A Break from Tradition
October 8, 2015 @ 18:30 - 21:00
We had a fantastic evening with a panel of five lawyers discussing working practices that break away from our traditional patterns. Dana Denis-Smith, founder of Obelisk Legal Support, encouraged us to embrace change and recognise that legal services delivery needs to be agile; flexibility helps both client and lawyer. Ian Searle, from Setfords, emphasised the need to be disciplined and organised; essential for him is central office support – recounting a time when storm damage cut off his remote working location during a big litigation case. Penny Mackinder, consultant solicitor from Clinton Davis Pallis, and Jill Glover, Corporate Counsel at Ebiquity PLC, provided tips as to how to succeed, urging us to be confident and take the leap to enjoy the freedom of flexible of working. With the growth of client services and business development roles, Christina Blacklaws, Director of Client Services at Cripps LLP, suggested stepping away from front- line law to gain valuable skills. The overall message was if you want to do things differently, you can!
Many thanks to CMS Cameron McKenna for hosting us in their futuristic offices at Cannon Place.
