Our immediate past Chair , Jessica, has nominated this month’s role model of the month. Liz Dux worked as a solicitor for 28 years before retiring from the profession and embarking on a new career as the Director of Littleton Chambers. Starting as a Trainee in 1988, Liz had an extensive career with Slater and Gordon (formerly Russell Jones & Walker) and became a Partner in 1995 aged 30. Throughout her later career Liz headed up the Abuse team supporting survivors of abuse through both criminal and civil cases. Liz led the team representing 168 Savile victims and worked on a number of other high profile cases. As part of this role she became recognised as a leading commentator in the media, providing interviews at all hours of the day, championing victims’ rights all within managing a very busy home life and raising two teenage sons. Liz has actively campaigned for a change in the law to introduce mandatory reporting of child abuse, something her clients felt strongly about. During her legal career she was always supportive and encouraging of junior members of the team, taking time to answer questions and help nourish and develop junior lawyers’ skills – indeed many speak fondly of Liz as both a role model and a friend. After 28 years at the same firm Liz took the brave step to start a new career. Having wanted to do something different, Liz was excited to start her new career at Littleton Chambers and is now thoroughly enjoying a new challenge.
